This course is directed towards individuals who wish to expand their basic handgun knowledge and take defensive shooting to the next level. Individuals required to come with a basic understanding of handgun safety, firearms, ammo and range etiquette. The course will cover many topics and shooting exercises geared towards educating students on self-defense, mental preparedness and shooting efficiency. The intermediate course consists of same-day classroom and range time at the same facility.
The goal of the course will be to develop the knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary to carry and use a concealed handgun ethically, responsibly, and with confidence.
The classroom portion is taught by Melissa, owner and NRA instructor, with six years of experience. The range portion is taught by Don, an NRA certified instructor, retired law enforcement and 35 years of competition shooting experience.

Range drills consisting of teaching proper on the move shooting, concealment usage, point shooting, speed and accuracy drills, timed drills, defensive malfunction clearing drills, prone shooting, holster technique, magazine changes and much more..
Please select class type based on classroom, range time and firearm rental options (if applicable). The textbook is highly recommended but to keep costs down, we make it optional if the student wants to purchase or not. We don’t require students to have textbooks but it’s a great resource to walk away with for future reference. Other handouts and resources will be included free of charge.
Participant equipment requirements:
- Pistol- Any handgun platform you’ll be using for concealed carry - At least two magazines (two or more is best) and a speed loader - Strong side holster; magazine holders or speed loader pouch - Minimum 200-300 rounds of factory ammunition - No remans or reloads! - Clothing appropriate for concealed carry and outdoor environment - Eye and ear protection
This course does not include ammo or lunch. Ammo, eye protection and ear protection is available for purchase at the store if needed. Bring a lunch or snack if needed. Hats and sunscreen highly recommended.
Paper and steel targets provided!
Classroom time averages roughly 3 hours, range time averages between 2 1/2 -3 hours dependent upon how well students grasp information, questions, and student attendance.
This class takes place at Dragonman's Shooting Range. Students will be met inside and directed where to go from here.
